“Rather than being a human, be a humanitarian”
― Kowtham Kumar K
Now that we have had the chance to introduce ourselves and tell you about the fun we are going to have, we would like to share more about our philanthropic purpose: to support the Edmonton Public Library (EPL), the only Canadian library to be named Library of the Year by Library Journal.
At Anthology, we believe literacy and the love of reading is the cornerstone to a dynamic, vibrant and inclusive city – and that a strong urban public library system can provide this foundation. The way we use libraries is evolving and this is no more evident than at the EPL.
Linking Edmontonians to literacy occurs through a dizzying array of content that goes beyond the eclectic mix of books (online and on the shelf), comics, magazines, online music and the new Makerspace (vinyl cutting, anyone?) available to library patrons. The EPL also provides a number of other supportive services including “EPL To Go” literacy vans, early literacy programming, support for English language learners and community outreach to ensure that our libraries are inclusive spaces for all Edmontonians.
Just as the librarians thoughtfully curate their stock and programming with their clientele in mind, at Anthology we have carefully curated a number of events which we believe will provide you with edu-tainment in a way that no other group is the city is offering, all the while supporting a worthwhile cause.
