Over the course of the next few weeks we'd like to introduce you to our Board and have asked them to answer 3 questions to help you get to know them better.
This week we are profiling the Chair of our Events committee, Rowena Cui!
Tell us a bit about yourself:
My priority is to raise a good human (I have one 2 year old son named Red) and be a good human. I'm also a parent to two senior dogs, Hennessey and Benson, COO of PlanIt Sound Inc., CEO of That Just Happened Inc., Board Chair of Apricity, Board member of Anthology, and devoted to refreshing philanthropy in all that I do.
Why are you involved in Anthology?
Most of my early childhood memories involve books or the library. When I was growing up, my grandparents and my sisters and I used to take regular trips to the library. My grandparents learned English through us reading to them and we learned Tagalog (Filipino) through them speaking to us. Also, when I was 6 years old, I was frustrated with the "6 books maximum per day" rule - at the time, students were only allowed to take out 6 library books per day. So, I found a solution - I volunteered at my elementary school library so I could hang out after school and read as many books as I could AND I would sneak in an extra book or two into my backpack but always returned them the very next day! Mischievous yes, but all for the love of books
What is your favourite book?
At this moment, it's Robert Munsch's "Mmm Cookies" - my son and I have mastered our voice over parts and accompanying sound effects. We also pretend to eat our cookies at the end:)
