Over the course of the next few weeks we'd like to introduce you to our Board and have asked them to answer 3 questions to help you get to know them better.
This week we're profiling our Honorary Chair, Sarah Chan!
Tell us a bit about yourself:
I'm a piano teacher, mother of two (7 and 4 yr olds), and an active-in-Edmonton social advocate. Recently I was reading my Chinese Zodiac description to some friends, educating them about the traits of those born in the year of the Monkey: Ancient Chinese wisdom and the Internet both agree that I am clever, loyal, and mischievous!
Why are you involved in Anthology?
Apricity, another group I work with, put on a fundraiser in 2015 to raise funds for Edmonton Public Library's Welcome Baby program. I was already in love with EPL as a life-long user, and, had continued exposure through my husband's involvement on their board. Working with EPL in a volunteer capacity, getting to collaborate with their staff and admin, was a valuable experience.
When Anthology's chair (Salima) asked if I would continue to advocate on behalf of EPL in a new capacity, I said yes!
What is your favourite book?
Its tough to play favourites, but, I really love Phillip Pullman's His Dark Materials series. It's a gorgeous 3-books about remarkable young people, growth, and coming of age all alongside loads of imagination.
