We are so pleased to kick off our 2017 year of programming on April 27th, 2017 at 6:00pm at the ATB Financial Arts Barns with celebrated author, Joseph Boyden. This event is already proving to be one that is controversial and thought-provoking - values that epitomize Anthology and our members.
Mr. Boyden is an internationally acclaimed Canadian author of novels such as The Orenda, Three Day Road and Through Black Spruce and is currently embroiled in a controversy about the authenticity of his Indigenous heritage. Due to this debate, which has monopolized CanLit forums for the last several months, he has made few recent public guest appearances. While the Edmonton Public Library supports his appearance to recognize the library's role in promoting intellectual freedom and freedom of expression, some local Indigenous leaders are challenged by his presence in our city.
Be one of the first twenty-five people to purchase a 2017 annual membership, and you will get an exclusive invitation to this event, one that is proving to be our most provocative event of the season.
The pre-reception with special guests, cocktails and light refreshments starts at 6:00pm. Anthology members will have reserved seating for Mr. Boyden’s speech, which will include a Q and A, at 7:00pm.
To reserve your tickets, please RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org by April 21st, 2017.
