Where do my membership fees go?

What is the tax receipt amount for my membership?
You will receive a charitable tax receipt for a portion of your annual membership fee. This will be determined at year end, once all program costs and membership benefits have been determined.
Can I sign up anytime?
Yes. Anthology is a rolling program, meaning you can sign up at anytime of the year and you will be entitled to at least 4 Anthology events within a 12-month period from the date you sign up.
How does a Single membership work?
There is one cardholder for this level of membership and the original member must be present at all Anthology events. More details on our membership page.

When do Anthology events take place?
On average, Anthology events take place every couple of months (one per season) for a total of 4 events in a calendar year. There will also be surprise and bonus events included with your membership throughout the year. Members will receive advance notice of events (before the general public) and will be required to RSVP to ensure entry to each event.
What are Anthology events like?
Anthology events are typically hosted on Thursday nights, though dates may change depending on availability of speakers and venues. Guests enjoy refreshments and the opportunity to socialize and network with fellow members. At the heart of the events is an opportunity for exclusive encounters with noted speakers at the intersection of literature, arts and culture. Depending on the event, you may hear authors speak about their work, be invited to behind the scenes tours and view special collections at EPL facilities. We hope members leave Anthology events feeling inspired by the programs and enlivened by the new connections they have made.

You are welcome to attend as many or as few events as you'd like. In addition to the events and knowing that you are supporting the EPL, Anthology membership includes other benefits such as surprise bonus events, advanced invitations and discounts to EPL literary programs, behind the scenes toursand other perks.
May I bring a guest to Anthology events?
In general, Anthology events are for members only and we cannot accommodate guests. The exception to this is if you purchase an Open Duo membership, which is transferable and allows any two people to attend Anthology events.
What if I'm over 45?
Anthology is designed specifically for a young professionals audience. It aims to make a meaningful connection with this generation with the hope that it is the beginning of a lifelong relationship with the EPL. As such, the program is focused to those 18-45 years old as we look at cultivating a new generation of library supporters. However, all are welcome to join regardless of age.
What is the relationship between the Friends of the EPL and Anthology?
Anthology is the newly branded version of the Friends of the Edmonton Public Library, targeted towards engaging civically-minded and curious Edmontonians 45-years and younger. At Anthology, we believe a passion for literature is central to a healthy, vibrant, engaged city — and that a strong urban public library system can be its foundation. Our core purpose remains the same as always though- we are a volunteer-run, non-profit society that: promotes awareness of the public library within the community; seeks community involvement for its activities; acts as an advocate for the community's library interests; and raises funds for projects in support of the Edmonton Public Library (EPL).
